Hurkey Creek/May Valley Update
Thank you for following our progress with the Hurkey Creek and May Valley restoration.
We propose to restore this area to the destination riding experience that it used to be.
We have now received our matching grant from IMBA/Shimano for $10,400. We will use these funds to start Phase 1 and will involve restoring the Keen Camp climb which has been completely overgrown and washed away. This will allow us to complete a big loop up Keen Camp, through Johnson Meadow, then linking to Missing Link, Rage thru the sage, and Tunnel of love.
Should we exceed our fundraising budget we will apply those extra funds to Phase 2 which will restore additional route options from the main loop. These options could include Southridge, Sunset, Tres Hombres, Bonita Vista, The Spine, etc.
We hope to restore the system to allow once again events to be held there, as well as expanding opportunities for youth, beginner and family friendly riding. We will be using the funds for tools, signage, construction materials and volunteer support (food, drinks, apparel, etc.).
